Circulation Clerk - Part-Time

The South Holland Public Library is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, hard-working individual with great customer service skills to work in our fast-paced team environment. This position is part-time with an average work week of 18 hours. This includes days, evenings and Saturdays.

  • Staffs the Circulation Desk 75-100% of the scheduled work time while providing outstanding customer service to our users.
  • Checks materials in and out, issues library cards, collects fines, renews, retrieves and shelves materials.
  • Performs all automated circulation functions accurately and efficiently.
  • Handles routine issues and answers a variety of questions.
Necessary Knowledge
  • Ability to learn computerized circulations functions and procedures.
  • Ability to work courteously with the public and exercise discretion.
  • Possess basic mouse and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to answer the phone.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and make change.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time, reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 20 pounds and access library areas and materials.
  • Flexible and reliable schedule availability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service skills required.
  • Library experience preferred.
  • Spanish language skills a bonus.
  • Must have ccess to transportation.

This position is part-time, up to 18 hours per week, including days, evenings and Saturdays.

Salary: Starting at $12.91/hour.

Custodian - Part-Time

The South Holland Public Library is looking for a reliable, skilled Custodian to perform essential upkeep and cleaning tasks of the library building and property. Being reliable and self-motivated, with a keen eye for detail, is essential to success in this position.

  • Cleans all bathrooms daily. Refills soap dispensers and paper products as needed.
  • Spot cleans glass smudges on glass mirrors.
  • Empties all waste receptacles, recycling bins and paper shredders into outside containers.
  • Vacuums carpeted areas.
  • Dust mops, sweeps and wet mops all uncarpeted floors including foyers, entryways, Teen Room, tile areas in the Youth Services Department and North Meeting Room Kitchen.
  • Dusts and cleans tabletops, counters, and all horizontal surfaces.
  • Scrubs sinks, tables and counters in kitchens.
  • Spot cleans glass daily
  • Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountains.
Necessary Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work the hours needed to complete the responsibilities of the Custodian.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 40 pounds and access cleaning areas.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Custodial experience a plus.
  • Reads, understands, writes legibly and speaks articulately in English.
  • Position requires day, evening and Saturday hours on an as needed basis.

This position is an on call part-time, working 7-10 a.m., Monday-Saturday, with an average work week of 18 hours.

Salary: Starting at $12.91/hour.
